DESCRIPTION AND RULES OF THE GAME
Contents: The Viking Chess set includes: 1 king, 6 throwing sticks, 4 boundary posts and 10 wooden blocks.
Brief description of the game:
“Viking Chess” can be played by 2 to 12 people at the same time. The playing field should be smooth and flat, measuring 5 x 8 m (or smaller, depending on the skill of the players). The players are divided into 2 groups and stand behind the boundary line. The aim of the game is to knock over all your opponent’s blocks using throwing sticks. Once all the blocks have been knocked over, the king comes into play. The team that knocks down the king wins.
How to play?
Line up outside the baselines. To determine which team goes first, have selected players from both throw a stake towards the king. Whose peg falls closest to the king (without knocking it down) is the team that gets to start.
Pin throws are made from behind the baseline, from below (without curl). Each team has 6 throws in one round (6 attempts to knock over the opponent’s blocks). Blocks that remain in their original positions are called base blocks, and overturned (knocked) blocks are called field blocks. After each round, team A throws the captured defenders to team B’s square (i.e. behind the king and within the field), and team B places them where they fell.
After the first round, team B enters the action. Attention! He must first knock down these overturned defenders and only then try to overturn defenders from the baseline. If she manages to knock down the thrown kubbs, they are thrown out of the game. If this is not possible, team A has the right to take further throws from the line where the defenders are still standing. The game continues until one team knocks over all the opponent’s defenders. Only then can you try to knock down the king. If during the competition one of the teams knocks down the king earlier, they lose.
Maria Montessori’s method
The aim of M. Montessori’s pedagogy is to support the child’s spontaneous and creative activity, develop the child’s individual personality traits, influence the acquisition of knowledge, form the correct character, school skills and the ability to cooperate in a group.
These goals are achieved by helping the child: achieve long-term concentration, become independent from rewards, develop independence and self-confidence, develop individual talents while at the same time being able to cooperate with others.
The tasks of Montessori pedagogy are carried out by learning by doing, emphasizing independence, concentration and perseverance, learning in silence, observation and following the rules – do not hurt, do not destroy, do not disturb.
An important part of Montessori pedagogy are teaching aids, the most important features of these aids are: simplicity, precision and aesthetics of workmanship, taking into account the principle of grading difficulty and the ability to independently control errors.
Thanks to the right environment, the child develops in a harmonious way, feels joyful and happy, learns quickly and develops, easily acquiring subsequent tasks.
