Rapid storage expansion with RAID support
The TR-004 model is an ideal solution for expanding computer mass storage, especially in the case of laptops where the drive cannot be replaced with a larger one. With four 3.5-inch SATA drive bays and RAID support, the TR-004 allows you to store massive amounts of files and data while protecting against potential drive failure.
Support for several RAID levels
The TR-004 model supports various RAID configurations. Depending on your needs, you can choose hardware or software RAID mode control. DIP switches allow you to set the RAID mode that best suits your needs: single drives, JBOD group, RAID 0, RAID 1/10 or RAID 5. RAID settings can also be configured from a QNAP NAS or using the QNAP External RAID Manager application on a computer.
Flexible storage management and configuration
Unlike many other RAID enclosures, the TR-004 model allows for software-controlled configuration, giving you maximum management flexibility. You can use Storage and Snapshot Manager on QNAP NAS or QNAP External RAID Manager on your computer to configure RAID and monitor disk health.
Use the TR-004 instead of conventional NAS expansion modules
As an external RAID enclosure, the TR-004 model is a fully autonomous device and does not use any additional system resources of the NAS server. Compared to the UX-500P expansion module, the TR-004 model significantly reduces the load on the NAS server system.
External storage for the NAS server
Instead of using the TR-004 to expand the capacity of your QNAP NAS, you can use it as additional storage for backup or data transfer. This allows, among other things, physical migrations of huge data sets without burdening the network. When the TR-004 is connected to the NAS, you can monitor its health and status in the NAS Storage and Snapshot Manager.
Cross-platform file sharing
The TR-004 case is compatible with a variety of devices – from NAS servers to Windows, Mac and Linux computers. This makes it ideal for transferring large files between different devices. The TR-004 is even compatible with devices that use the exFAT* file system, making it even more convenient to download and share files from a wider range of devices.
