When sharing sensitive or confidential files on the TS-431KX, you can increase data security by using File Station to encrypt your data in .qenc files. Recipients of the file must then download and install the QENC Decrypter application on their computers and enter a password to decode, view and use the encrypted .qenc files.

Snapshots help protect your data by fully recording the state and metadata of your NAS system. If you accidentally delete or modify a snapshot file from storage, Snapshot Manager or File Station allows you to quickly restore it to a previously saved state. QNAP snapshots are block-based and only save changed data. This not only saves storage space, but also reduces backup and recovery times. The TS-431KX supports up to 32 snapshots per volume/LUN, and a maximum of 64 snapshots in total.
